About the Porbeagle Shark
The Porbeagle is a fast open-ocean predator native to the cold North Atlantic. It reaches around three metres and roughly 200 kg, and it holds deep, between about 200 and 250 metres, along continental shelves and thermal fronts. It thrives in rough water and hunts fast-moving prey like mackerel, herring, and cod, using explosive bursts of speed and long chases. That muscular, fast-moving nature is exactly why you cannot go in with light gear. Hook one and it will test everything, so the whole rig is built around not being outmatched.
Where to Catch Porbeagle Shark at Skårland Fjord
Here is an important difference from my other Skårland guides. The Porbeagle is not in the Ranvika Marina area where I catch Meagre, Hake, and Dogfish. It is out in the open water on the far east side of the map, near coordinates 3407, -3605, which is a genuinely different and deeper part of the fjord. Take the boat out there, drop a marker buoy on arrival, and fish deep. Treat the coordinate as a starting area rather than an exact pixel, since the fish roams, but this open eastern water is where I marked and landed my Trophy. Because the shark holds deep, get the rig all the way down and keep it on the bottom.
Best Time: Midday
Like the Dogfish, the Porbeagle came on for me in the middle of the day. I caught mine at 15:49, on the midday activity window rather than in low light. Use the Time Forward feature to reach midday rather than grinding a flat stretch, and check the activity chart before committing. As always, avoid Next Day, which sells all your fish. Use Forward Time to move within the same day so you keep your catch.
The Setup for Porbeagle Shark

Bait: Fish Head and Alternatives
Fish Head is what my Trophy took, and it is a great shark bait because the tuna head slowly releases its natural oils into the water, drawing predators from a distance. It targets Grouper, Shark, and Snapper, so it is purpose-made for a fish like this. If you want alternatives, the Porbeagle also favours Bluey, Gutted Fish, and Large Fish Strips. Keep the bait to these big offerings, since a shark this size is not interested in anything small.
The Torch Teaser Makes a Difference
This is the detail a lot of people skip. I run a Torch Flashlight 17 cm on the rig as a luminous teaser. It is designed for deep, dark bottom setups where light barely reaches, and its steady glow draws curious predators in from a distance. At the depth the Porbeagle holds, that light can be the trigger that turns a passive shark into an active biter. If you are fishing deep for this fish and not using a teaser, adding one is a genuine upgrade rather than a gimmick.
How to Fish It
Put it together and the routine is clear. Take the boat out to the open eastern water, drop a marker buoy, and set your time to midday. Rig the heavy PulseWave with a #15/0 hook, the 1000 g sinker, a Torch teaser, and a Fish Head, then send it all the way to the bottom and wait. When a Porbeagle takes, it hits with real speed and runs hard, so keep your drag firm and your rod working, and do not try to rush a fish this size. Ride out the long fight, bring it up, and collect one of the biggest payouts on the map.
Common Mistakes
Bringing light gear. This is not a fish for the Sigma F workhorse. Use the heavy PulseWave class rod, a #15/0 hook, and a 1000 g sinker, or the shark will overpower you.
Fishing the marina area. The Porbeagle is out in the open eastern water, not near Ranvika Marina where the smaller species hold. Go to the right part of the map.
Skipping the teaser. A Torch Flashlight in the deep, dark water genuinely helps draw the shark in. Fishing without one leaves bites on the table.
Advancing to the next day by accident. Next Day sells all your fish, including a hard-won Trophy shark. Use Forward Time to move within the same day.
